The United Nations University - Land Restoration Training programme (UNU-LRT) is a programme on restoration of degraded land and sustainable land management, aiming at assisting developing countries in capacity development within this field. The programme is a cooperation between the United Nations University, the Government of Iceland, the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland, and the Agricultural University of Iceland.

Former fellow defended his PhD dissertation in Uzbekistan


Toshpulat Rajabov, a former LRT fellow from 2009, recently defended his PhD project titled "Spatio-temporal changes of vegetation cover of semi desert along the grazing gradient (in case of Karnabchul)" in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. During his stay in Iceland attending the LRT six-month training programme in 2009, Dr. Rajabov worked on an individual project under the supervision of Dr. Johann Thorsson, a specialist at the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland.
