Thu UNU-LRT programme is governed by a Board of five members that are representative of the United Nations University (UNU), the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland (SCSI), the Agricultural University of Iceland (AUI), the Icelandic Forest Service (IFS) and an expert nominated by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs (MFA). The Board meets at least tree time per year.

Mr. Jón Loftsson, Director of the IFS.
Mr. Hermann Örn Ingólfsson, Director General, MFA.
